In Wynnewood Pa, a backyard area is set along side a creek. The home owner wished for a sitting area to enjoy the creekside views. A retaining wall to combat storm erosion was also a necessity and not impacting the flood plains was an important element to this challenging project.
The irregular Pa bluestone patio was set on clean gravel and the joints were filled with decorative river stone. An epoxy was used to bind the river stone together so the stones are held in place while allowing this patio to be fully permeable. Permeable surface area is very important for controlling storm water runoff but this patio proves that beauty and function can exist simultaneously.
