A remodeling of the stone retaining walls at the rear of the patio was part of the efforts to convert this backyard. The area of a future outdoor living space was a drainage challenge. As you can see the area's rain water pooled in the middle of the Wynnewood home's backyard which was not a favorable place to have a muddy mess. Fortunately at KM Gardens we take drainage of our patios seriously. Drains were added and the water was directed by the slope of the finished patio into those drains then carried to a place better suited to handle the excess water.

The native shrubs that replaced the overgrown laurels will only get 7-8 ft and stay thin so you can still see the house. This gives the area some height without overpowering. The perennials will eventually make a complete carpet and keep the weeds out.
