This project in Chester county was extensive and exhilarating. Our clients wanted their property to be an oasis, someplace they didn’t want to leave. We took a deep breath and created something we would have wanted if this was our own home.
Combining different types of materials can individualize certain areas, making special spaces for lounging and dining.
The area leading out to the pool had to spectacular! This view is what is seen from the inside and from the deck.
Breaking up the pool deck with beds/boulders/plants gives the area a good flow and creates a lush environment against the hard surfaces.
We wanted to add a separate area for dining, and with the invaluable input from our client created a shape that would blend with the area as a whole.
Having access to all areas of the yard is something that is important in our designs. A simple walkway connected to the main patio makes this easy.
Boulders in beds are just fun. They break up the bed, accentuate the colors of flowers, and give you great winter interest.
Oh, what to do about that pool equipment. We came up with a simple but attractive solution that doesn’t take up much space and is easily accessible.
There was a huge open space behind the pool that our client wanted to blend with the beautiful woods beyond that. We brought in some native understory trees, shrubs and perennials to layer the area, and then added some walking paths using existing wood chips.
Now, as you look from the patio beyond the pool, the paths are calling for you to walk thru them!
